Sexsmith & District Museum Society

The Sexsmith & District Museum Society was awarded the Operation Staffing Grant from the Alberta Museums Association in December 2019. We sincerely thank the Alberta Museums Association for awarding us this grant. The funds were used towards staffing our summer employees.
As we come to the end of 2021, we are cleaning the interior of the Alberta Wheat Pool elevator. Work is being done by Kris Jennngs (Zero Gravity) and will be near completion prior to Christmas. The protective coating will be applied in the spring of 2022 and we will allow viewing of the interior upon completion. There is still a lot of work to be completed to fully display the elevator.
A portion of this phase of the project was funded with a $10,000.00 grant by the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 through the Capital Assistance Grant Program. They are one of our major partners on this complete project.
It is through the support of our community that we are able to share the history of our region.
The Sexsmith Museum received the Community Impact Grant in 2021 from the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta. The monies awarded from this grant were used to fix the chimney and complete the foundation of the Greek Orthodox church. We would like to formally thank the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta for helping make this possible.
